We
strongly recommend that you go to a breeder who is a member of the Finnish Lapphund Club of Great Britain as these breeders have
committed to following the latest care, breeding and health testing rules and code of ethics of the club, including the
official UK Kennel Club Rules on testing - see the health section.
They
have bred and raised at least one litter of Finnish Lapphunds
and are based in the UK. The number of breeders is slowly climbing but you
should expect to wait some time to get a puppy - over six months is not
unusual. The best approach is to contact the breeders, find out more and
ask to join their waiting lists.
Once
you know the sire and dam, you can ask the breeder for copies of health
certificates to check that health tests are up to date and as per the Code
of Ethics. For full information on test results held by the KC and in the
club's Breed Archive, please see the health section
of this web site.
The
club does not endorse any particular breeder on the list below and we
cannot intervene in the process that takes place between the breeder and
the buyer. Please note that the individual breeder is ultimately
responsible for the puppies he or she has sold.
